YOUR TIME
The presence of hospice volunteers provides patients, caregivers, and other family members
with comfort and compassion during the end-of-life experience.
At Hospice of Murray County, our volunteers are the heart of hospice. We appreciate all of the
time and energy our amazing volunteers give to Hospice of Murray County. Each volunteer
makes an enormous difference in the lives of our patients and their families during their time
of need.
Every patient and their family has a unique set of emotional, physical, social, and spiritual
needs. Our staff and volunteers form a solid team that ensures that all patient and family
needs are being met.
Volunteering opportunities include:
•
Visiting with hospice patients
•
Reading stories to patients
•
Sharing prayers or scriptures
•
Providing breaks for family members and/or caregivers
•
Sitting with patients at the end of life whose family is absent
•
Provide transportation to and from doctor’s appointments
•
Pick up and drop off prescriptions
•
Administrative tasks
•
Help with fundraisers
•
Writing letters with patients
•
Assisting with light housekeeping
•
A variety of other tasks involving patient, family, or facility support
